Argentina - Argentine economy is in the gutter

Aníbal Fernández: 'The Central Bank should have more power to preserve real economy'
Kirchnerite Senator Aníbal Fernández today defended a reform of the Central Bank's charter explaining "it needs to have more control to preserve monetary and fiscal policies, production and real economy."

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner yesterday sent a bill to Congress aimed at helping the government tap more Central bank reserves to help repay foreign debt and defend the country's currency.

"Today we have a reliable financial system and we have to continue on the same path," Fernández said, then reaffirming what the president said before the Congress in that "we must guarantee the not only the monetary stability but also the fiscal stability, the production and the real economy."
