• 1776 - Turtle, a one-man submarine built by 34-year old Yale graduate David Bushnell, unsuccessfully tries to attach a torpedo to the hull of the HMS Eagle anchored off New York Harbor
• 1937 - Keel is laid for the USS Sculpin (SS 191)
• 1943 - USS Darter (SS 227) is commissioned
• 1955 - USS Sailfish (SS 572) is launched
• 1955 - USS X-1 ( SSX1) is launched
• 1963 - USS Sandlance (SS 381) is decommissioned for the second time
• 1963 - USS Plaice (SS 390) is decommissioned for the second time
• 1993 - USS Francis Scott Key (SSBN 657) is decommissioned
