BEIRUT, (SANA)- Secretary General of Hezbollah Hasan Nasrallah on Friday said that the world has reached the conclusion that the political solution is the only way out of the crisis in Syria, and that the option of military intervention in it is over.
In a speech, Nasrallah said that some in the Syrian opposition persist in setting preconditions for a political solution that equate toppling the regime, despite the fact that the international and regional political climate has surpassed this stage.
He said that talk of military intervention in Syria – which has been a real threat in past months – has receded and ended with finality, despite that some US official continue to wave it from a distance while they're the least capable of carrying out such an intervention given their failure in Iraq and their search for a way out from Afghanistan.
Nasrallah also dismissed the possibility of sending Arab forces to Syria, noting that the international and regional political climate has moved away from arming the Syrian opposition, and if there are still a few countries that adopt this option then this is their personal business.
"The moment Kofi Anan came to Damascus and didn't rely on the reference of the Arab League decisions, initiatives and presentations, it meant that this issue is over and we're past this stage," he said.
Nasrallah called on all faithful individuals in any international, Arab or international in media, political or social positions to help Syria along the path of a political solution, restoring security and stability, and reform.
"This requires ending media instigation, all forms of defamation, and pitting Syrians against each other," he said, calling for bringing viewpoints closer and convincing all sides to engage in a serious, honest and true dialogue, adding that any other solution serves Israel and those who benefit from fragmenting the region and causing chaos in it.
Nasrallah also wondered why the issue of Bahrain wasn't discussed at the Arab Summit.
Regarding the Land Day, Nasrallah said that this day symbolizes commitment to rights, causes, holy sites and land, especially since Israel and those who conspire with it want Palestine to be forgotten.
"The Israeli enemy and the conspirators want the Palestinian cause to leave the circle of priorities," he said, stressing that this has failed thanks to the struggle taking place on various levels, the resistance, the blood of the martyrs, the wounds of the injured, and the suffering of the captives and the besieged.
Nasrallah stressed that conspiracies to liquidate the Palestinian cause have failed thanks to the steadfastness of the Palestinians, despite the fact that hundreds of billions of dollars were spent to this end.
"The resistance, with the support it received from Syria and Iran which is limited in comparison to the capabilities of the Arab and Islamic nations, managed, fought, survived and forged two major victories in Lebanon and Gaza," he affirmed.
