October 11th - On This Date - USN Submarine Service



1912 - USS F-1 (SS-20) Aground of Watsonville, CA when mooring slips in gale, two crew lost

1917 - USS F-2 (SS-31) Struck by USS H-1(SS 28) while moored at San Pedro

1923 - USS O-5 (SS-66) was lost on 11-Oct-1923 with the loss of 2 officers and men when it was   sunk after collision with SS ABABGAREZ (United Fruit) off Panama Canal

1943 - USS Wahoo (SS-238) was lost on 11-Oct-1943 with the loss of 79 officers and men when it was sunk in or near La Perouse Strait.

1945 - USS O-8 (SS 69) is decommissioned for the second time

1969 - USS Grayling (SSN 646) is commissioned

1969 - USS Spinax (SS 489) is decommissioned
