June 2nd - On This Date - RN Submarine Service

1943 Tantalus Submarine HMS Tantalus completed
1943 Unswerving Submarine HMS Unswerving launched
1944 Vulpine Submarine HMS Vulpine completed
1940 Dunkirk Dunkirk town is held despite the shrinking of the perimeter. Evacuation at night results in 26,256 men evacuated. The last of the British troops are evacuated.

There remain plenty of ships, but the 60,000 French troops have no evacuation orders.
1942 HMS Turbulent HMS Turbulent twice attacks the German submarine U-81. All 7 torpedoes miss the target.
1944 HMS Tantalus HMS Tantalus lays mines in the Strait of Malacca.
1944 HMS Ultor HMS Ultor sinks the German patrol vessel SG-11 north of Port Vendres, southern France.
1945 HMS Trident HMS Trident sinks a Japanese sailing vessel with demoliotion charges in the Strait of Malacca.
