Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman was attending meetings yesterday and today in Cartagena de Indias ahead of the Summit of the Americas which will take place on April 14 and 15.
Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman attended another meeting for ministers in Cartagena de las Indias today, further gathering the already gained support for the country on the Malvinas dispute. Yesterday representatives for 32 out of the 33 countries participating in the Americas Summit pleaded in favour of “Argentina's sovereignty rights.”
“Ask your governments to support the resolution over the Malvinas islands, because the colonial aggression against our country is a colonial aggression against all of us,” Timerman said during a speech in the meeting.
The second meeting was called for today in order to tie up agreements and concrete the 32 country’s support for Argentina in the Malvinas dispute. The meeting took place this afternoon at 3 pm Argentine time (1pm in Cartagena).
In yesterday’s meeting Timerman underlined the importance of the Malvinas sovereignty issue and brought up Cuba’s inclusion in the summit, with the hopes that in the next meeting the country will be able to participate.
The VI Summit of the Americas takes place on April 14 and 15 in Colombia and involves 33 leaders of the 34 member state of the Organization of American States (OAS).
