A spokesman said the separatist column crossed in an area close to the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk region. "The convoy has been stopped by border guards," he said. "The battle is ongoing."

-- Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says Russia plans to send a second humanitarian aid convoy to Ukraine. Lavrov told reporters that Russia had informed Ukraine of its intention and hoped for full cooperation from Kyiv.

-- Lavrov also said he saw nothing humiliating in publicly parading Ukrainian prisoners through the streets of Donetsk over the weekend. The move was criticized by rights organizations as a violation of the Geneva Convention.
