New unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have been put into service in the
Russian 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan. The code names are
"Zastava", "Granat" and "Leer", the
representational office of the base informed.
The
"Leer" drones, in particular, are designed for conducting
reconnaissance, jamming and suppression of radio-electronic devices.
"Zastava" and "Granat" have modern video and photo
equipment.
Some 7 thousand
soldiers are stationed at the 201st Gatchina Russian military base. They are
housed in three military units in Tajikistan. Its aviation is located at the
Russian base of Kant in Kyrgyzstan. Last year, Russia and Tajikistan ratified
the treaty on the extension of the presence of military forces for another 25
years until 2049.
