Israeli David's Sling anti-missile system unveiled in Paris


David's Sling, designed to protect Israel from midrange missiles, is expected to be operational within two years • It will become part of Israel's multilayered missile defense network, which also includes the Iron Dome and Arrow systems. 


David's Sling was co-developed by the Israeli firm Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and the U.S. firm Raytheon. It is designed to protect Israel from midrange missiles. It has a range of more than 160 kilometers (around 100 miles).

The system is expected to be operational within two years. 


David's Sling will become part of Israel's multilayered missile defense network, which includes the already operational Iron Dome and Arrow 2 systems, as well as the Arrow 3, which is in development. 


The Iron Dome intercepts short-range threats while the Arrow shoots down long-range threats.
