Emiri Air Force, USAF hold joint training exercise

The Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF) conducted on Monday a joint training exercise with the US Air Force at the Al Udeid Air Base.

 Injured passengers receiving medical help.

The exercise was meant to raise the level of alertness of the Qatari personnel to respond to  emergencies in collaboration with all the entities concerned.

The scenario of the drill started with the Air Base watch tower receiving a report from an aircraft with 30 persons on board  that it has a hydraulic fault and it has fuel only for flying one hour. Immediately, the watch tower informed the authorities concerned as per the approved standards in such cases. Then, ambulances, fire trucks and medical units hurried to station themselves at their assigned locations on the runway.

According to the scenario, the distressed aircraft deflects its track and one of its wings would be broken and the pilot loses control over it. Eventually, the Qatari forces move to put out the fire backed by the American forces. As they secure the site of the accident, rescue teams manage to open the emergency exits of the plane and attempt to save the passengers.

The location of the accident is divided into three zones according to the severity and proximity of danger. The first zone - the place of the crash of the aircraft is called “hot zone”, the area close to it called “warm zone” and the safe area called the “cold zone”, where a field hospital is set up.

All the injured are speedily transferred to the field hospital and classified into three degrees according to the severity of their injuries. Consequently, treatment starts and critical cases are flown by the helicopter ambulance of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and another helicopter belonging to QEAF to  HMC.
