The Israeli Navy held its graduation ceremony for soldiers completing its submarine training course on Sunday (June 16) at the Haifa naval base. The event followed 16 months of intensive training, divided into three phases.
Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Yair Naveh, Navy chief Maj. Gen. Ram Rothberg, the families of the graduates, friends, and guests attended the graduation ceremony.
"You are the long arm of the IDF [Israel Defense Forces], which sometimes remains quiet and sometimes operates loudly and forcefully. Your actions are characterized by mental strength and composure, and that is the way to optimize your use of weaponry," Maj. Gen. Rothberg said to the graduating sailors.
Maj. Gen. Naveh congratulated the soldiers and wished them a peaceful and successful military service. He also told them that they are joining the submarine squadron during a particularly challenging period and urged them to remember that by protecting the coastline, they are protecting their home.
The submarine training course, in which soldiers volunteer to enlist, is a challenging endeavor that prepares graduates to serve on submarines of the Israeli Navy. In honor of their successful completion of the course, these graduates received the rank of sergeant. In the next week, they will begin to serve on submarines, in positions corresponding to their various specialties: machinery, navigation, electronics, weapons, and sonar.
