Human Resources Command has established a transition strategy for manning the new cryptologic network warfare specialist military occupational specialty, 35Q, with enlisted soldiers who have related skills and training.
The guidance applies to soldiers who hold additional skill identifiers N6 cryptologic cyber analyst and E6 interactive on-net operator, and soldiers requesting constructive credit for training and experience. Reclassification guidance for other 35Q candidates will be announced later, according to the command.
Army policy, described in DA Pam 611-21 (Military Occupational Classification and Structure), sets the following qualifications for soldiers transitioning to 35Q:
• Physical demand rating of light.
• A physical profile of 222221 or better.
• Normal color vision.
• Qualifying scores of at least 109 in the aptitude area ST of the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery administered before Jan. 2, 2002, or a score of at least 105 on tests administered Jan. 2, 2002, or later.
The MOS-producing course for 35Q is the Joint Cyber Analysis Course (A-531-1900), which is taught at the Center for Information Dominance, Corry Station, Fla., and the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Md.
On Sept. 3, the Army will transition all soldiers in the ranks of private through sergeant first class who have completed the joint cyber course, or who have been awarded N6 or E6, to 35Q.
Soldiers who transition based on ASI E6 will retain that designation upon transfer to 35Q.
Soldiers who have not attended the Joint Cyber Analysis Course can request transfer to 35Q based on training and experience.
