Submarine warfare topic of roundtable meeting

"Submarine Warfare in the Pacific" is the topic of Monday's meeting of the Scott Hosier World War II Roundtable meeting.

Guest speakers will be Bill McCollum, Herb Schauer and Gordon Branes, all of whom served in the submarine service. The program is at 7 p.m. at Assembly of God Church in Rochester, 4240 18th Ave. N.W. The evening starts with 1940s music at 6:30 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $3 for admission; students are admitted free.

During the meeting, three local veterans — James H. Collins, Robert T. Rundquist and Merlyn Norman Thisius — will receive the Saipan Medallion, a medallion commissioned by the Northern Mariana Islands to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.
