Russian employee accused of disclosing "Bulava" top secret info

A company employee in Sverdlovsk region is accused of telling foreign intelligence confidential information regarding strategic rocket “Bulava”. The name of the employee is not disclosed. The court hearing behind closed doors will start soon in Yekaterinburg, Interfax said May 12.

The suspect works for the scientific and production center that develops missile defense systems. The employee is accused of disclosing a government top secret of strategic weapons systems.

The law enforcement official representatives haven't commented on the situation yet. But the case is under control of the Russian government.

Three stage solid-fueled R-30 Bulava is deployed on the new Borei class of ballistic missile nuclear submarines. The rocket can be launched from underwater and in motion. “Bulava” has an up to 8,000 km (about 5,000 miles) range and can carry from 6 to 10 thousands re-entry vehicles with a yield of 150 kt each.

More than a half of 13 “Bulava” tests had failed. But the latest series of tests in 2010-2011 were successful and the rocket was recommended for the Navy. It’s expected that “Bulava” will come to service in October of 2012.
