Falklands War 18 May 1982

It is decided that HMS Invincible cannot risk waiting for the Sea King HC.4 to return. The carrier and her escort head back to the CVBG, and the crew of the Sea King is ordered to fly to Punta Arenas in Chile and destroy their helicopter.

Six Sea Harriers assigned to CAP drop single 1000lb bombs on Stanley before carrying on with their air-defence duties.

The CVBG sails north to join up with the landing group, 200nm to the north east of Stanley. HMS Glamorgan is left behind to carry out another round of bombardments of Stanley during the coming night.
