The Falkland Islands Government has set aside £3,000 for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee events. Some of this funding is available to people who wish to organize community events and £500 has been allocated for events on the West.

A special set of four stamps accompanied by a souvenir sheet showing images of the
Queen taken during each of her special anniversary years will be released on May 10, in honor of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.
The May Ball on May 25 will also pick up the Diamond Jubilee as well as the Falklands 30 theme this year.
At the end of May, a congratulatory message from the Legislative Assembly and people of the Falklands will be sent to Her Majesty.
On June 3 at the Thames River Pageant, thousands of boats will be joining the Royal barge Gloriana in one of the largest flotillas ever to assemble on the Thames which will be attended by MLA and Mrs. Sawle.
On that day in the Falklands a Service of Thanksgiving will be held in Christchurch Cathedral at 11am followed by a drink and light buffet lunch in the Parish Hall.
On June 4 there will be a Public Holiday in the Islands and the same day, the Islands will join in with a network of over 2,000 other celebratory beacons to be lit across the world.
The lighting at Surf Bay will be carried out by the Sea Cadets, to coincide with lighting the national Beacon in London by the Queen at around 6.20pm local.
There is intended to be a bar and refreshments with plenty of undercover shelter and music to add to the party atmosphere until approximately 11pm. (Penguin News).
