French president-elect François Hollande, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Russian president Vladimir Putin
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner spoke to French president- elect François Hollande and newly elected Russian president Vladimir Putin to congratulate them on their wins and agreed to meet them both in the next G20 meeting in Mexico.
Presidential spokesman Alfredo Scoccimarro confirmed the information in a communiqué, but did no say whether they will happen as bilateral meetings or as informal encounters during the summit.
Amidst certain northern hemisphere nations’ attacks against Argentine trade policies, the approach to Hollande and Putin could launch a new relations scheme for the Government.
Early on Wednesday, Fernández de Kirchner held a phone call with French Socialist Hollande, whom she congratulated over his victory over current president Nicolas Sarkozy.
“We are very happy for your win, we have closely followed your growth proposals and we wanted to use this opportunity to congratulate you,” Fernández de Kirchner said.
Hollande replied that “it will be a pleasure to see you in the G20 summit to discuss common interests,” according to the communiqué.
Later, the President congratulated Russian leader Putin on his win, and invited him to Argentina. Putin hoped Fernández de Kirchner visits Russia again and said he expects to see her at the G20 summit in Mexico in June.
“I’m especially interested in hearing your perspective on the international global situation, especially taking into account the strong decisions you have taken in order to face the complex international scenario,” Putin added.
