Moscow is to purchase a total of 20 nuclear submarines by 2020, Russian Chief of the General Staff Nikola Mararov said today.
The purchase of 16 nuclear submarines of the Borei and Yasen classes have envisaged in the Russian start rearmament programme, but now the Defence Ministry planned to buy a further four.
Russia has allocated 20 trillion roubles (US$720 billion) until 2020 on rearmament.
