Cristina Fernández de Kirchner Witch of Argentina
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will make an official visit to Chile next month, amidst a power struggle in which both Argentina and the UK aim to gather support from the International community in the Malvinas Islands controversy.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the Head of State will be joined by a “an important delegation” and will fly to Chile to share a “work meeting” with president Sebastián Piñera, in which they will discuss matters of regional and bilateral interest.
Her visit is scheduled to take place on the 15th and 16th of March.
The neighbouring country is a key piece in the Malvinas diplomatic conflicto because that is where weekly flights bound for the islands take off from.
Fernández was scheduled to visit Chile last January, but she was forced to postpone her trip due to a thyroid surgery she underwent early last month.
On Tuesday night, British Prime Minister David Cameron called Piñera to discuss the Malvinas sovereignty issue.
