President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner expected to make announcement on Malvinas Islands

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner summoned provincial governors, union leaders, senators, and deputies from both Kirchnerite and opposition ranks to a meeting scheduled for today at 7pm as it is believed to be the announcement of new diplomatic measures against the UK over Malvinas Islands. Islanders showed their concerns over a possible interruption of Chile/Malvinas air link.

Thus, governors and national lawmakers from the Kirchnerite and opposition caucuses, as well diplomats, Malvinas War veterans and relatives of soldiers that perished during the 1982 armed conflict have also been invited to the meeting.

The nature of the announcement the Head of State will make has been kept strictly under wraps, and according to sources even though most of the political leaders invited  have no knowledge of what she is planning to say, there are rumours indicating that Fernández de Kirchner might take the UK over the Hague IC or the UN's Security Council to report the militarization of the region.

Reports will come after the arrival of the HMS Dauntless destroyer -one of the UK's most advanced warships, and UK Primer Minister David Cameron's green light to the sending a nuke submarine to the islands.

Malvinas newspaper Penguin News showed its concern over a the announcement of a possible interruption of all Chile-Malvinas airlink of LAN airline connecting Puerto Arena (Chile) with the Islands, as it was suggested by Fernández de Kirchner a few months ago.

In this way, Argentina's ambassador to Chile, Ginés González García, promptly denied such version. Plus, during a recent private meeting, Chile's President Sebastián Piñera asked Fernández de Kirchner to avoid a possible flights ban as it would affect many Chilean citizens who use the weekly air service.

Not even a week ago, during the announcement of a 17.6 percent increase on pension

The speech will take place at the Government House and will be air through official network.

The announcement is to take place amidst a new diplomatic escalation with the United Kingdom over the sovereignty of the Malvinas, South Georgia, and Sandwich islands in the South Atlantic.
